Donate Life America
Challenge: In 2000, Donate Life America (DLA) came to CreativeAid staff for design assistance. They wanted to increase organ, eye and tissue donation in the U.S. through a compelling multi-media educational campaign that would:
• reach everyone (every man, woman and child in the U.S.)
• explain why donation is important
• dispel myths and misconceptions about donation, and
• provide instructions on how to become a donor.
Oh yes, and they wanted their logo and all related materials to be lively, adaptable, and appealing enough to be wholeheartedly embraced and implemented by every DLA partnering organization in the country.
Solution: CreativeAid staff created a unique and memorable visual brand identity and design theme for the national campaign to promote organ, eye and tissue donation, including the Donate Life logo, the campaign Web site and banner ads with information about becoming a donor and directing visitors to sign up to be donors through state registries. We also designed all supporting public education materials including print ads, brochures, posters, billboards, bus ads and exhibit banners.
Results: Nearly 100% of DLA partnering organizations incorporated the Donate Life logo into their own brand identity within the first 12 months of the Donate Life campaign. In 2010, nearly 300 organizations ordered 4.6 million pieces of printed materials from DLA's national campaign, national observance resources, and DMV product line — all of which CreativeAid staff designed. Nearly 6 million promotional items decorated with the Donate Life logo were produced for DLA members in 2010. Each year, the spectrum of applications of the national symbol for organ, eye and tissue donation continues to grow in breadth.
